In this course, you will learn the:

• Importance of the main physico – chemical properties of hydrocarbons mixtures such as the crude oil.

• Methodologies for estimation of the main physico – chemical properties of petroleum fractions.

• How the crude oil is classified and which are the main products and fractions (cuts) used in the refining industry.

• To infer main characteristic of crude oils based upon simple properties such as API density and K factor.

• What is an crude oil assay and which properties can be extracted from it.

• The course is divided in two chapters. As we know the cude oil and petroleum products are complex mixtures of hydrocarbons, therefore, in the first chapter we will learn about the crude oil composition, classification, characteristics and properties.

• In the second chapter we will learn how to estimate the main physico chemical properties of petroleum products and the crude oil. These properties are required to design and evaluate equipment and process units associated to the Oil and Gas production and refining industry.
